Category: Let's talk
steve irwin has passed away . . so here is my part in a moment.
That's what happens when you annoy the life out of dangerous animals, he was asking for it and the Stingray delivered. Personally, I'd like to congratulate this member of the shark family for doing the animals a huge favour.
yes, it was going to happen someday.
i think he is crazy
He annoyed this beautiful nurse shark once to distraction and she attacked and the eejit was surprised.
agreed 100% with goblin, the son of a bitch got what he deserved. I'm really happy to hear he's dead, now, I would love to see it on tape, so I can laugh my ass off at that son of a bitch's death. oh wait, I'm already doing that, hahahahaahahahahahahahhhhahahahahahhhahhahhahaahahhaahahahahahahahahahaahahahahahaha
From what I've heard it was an unprovoked attack, and only killed him because the barb entered his heart, and so they were unable to risusetate him. Sure he took risks in his work, but he gave a lot of us what we want and that's sensational tv shows.
Shakes head at Garrett. Once again letting your immaturity get the better of ya!
yes, Yanky is sure immature. I very mistakingly told someone else to "get a life" but now I tell it to you. grow up and get yourself a life! learn not to be so insensative (if that's at all possible for someone like you).
I couldn't help laughing at the headline in the papers Crocodile Hunter killed by a fish what an ignominious end..I had visions of a heavily armed trout seeking revenge.
I was saddened by Steve's death! His show was on here in the States! He did a lot for the nation of Australia! I really enjoyed his show! It was cool!
Wonder if goblin would feel the same way if a Formula 1 driver was killed during a race, they surely got it coming, since they drive way too fast, in circles, and practically they would deserve it if their cars got smashed.
I think Steve not only brought great and enlightening shows to tv audiances worldwide but did a great deal of work to educate and help preserve endangerred animal speecies around the globe and draw attention to the global slaughtering of animals and deforestation and polution which is leading to the 6th great mass extinction where as much as 80% of current animal speecies seems scheduled to disappear.
He put himself in danger, of course, and sadly when you do that, one of these days, it gets the better of ya. I'm still saddened, for his family and for us who enjoy watching shows about animals and the nature of our planet in general.
And I'm further saddened by the immaturity and insensitivity of people on here, though I've come to expect it by now.
cheers
-B
Well said wb.
Maybe it's trite but it's still true:
"No man is an island,
Entire of itself.
Each is a piece of the continent,
A part of the main.
If a clod be washed away by the sea,
Europe is the less.
As well as if a promontory were.
As well as if a manner of thine own
Or of thine friend's were.
Each man's death diminishes me,
For I am involved in mankind.
Therefore, send not to know
For whom the bell tolls,
It tolls for thee."
Well put Bobby, although I may be wouldn't go as far as that :) seeing as over population is the biggest threat facing humanity, but still, I really like the centiment of the poem.
B, I totally agree with your first post, but I guess we can expect no less of these people, especially ignorent pricks like Gobshite
while steve erwin's brand of wildlife documentary wasn't to everyone's tastes, for instance I didn't think getting to close to crocs was a good idea, why not use the massive amount of technology we have to pbserve them in their natural habitat? I've seen such programmes as big cat diary and a programme where they put a tiny camera in a lioness's den and got great audio and visual shots never seen before on television, and no humans, or animals were hurt or antagonised during the filming. while steve's brand of closer than close making wasn't to my taste, I am sadded by his death because his reasons for doing what he did were pure in that he believed in his work with wildlife, and if you watch the programmes about his life, you will see a very caring and kind man behind the sometimes foolish exteria. R.I.P steve Erwin.
Thank you B, your first post has saved me the trouble of writing something in a similar vain because you quite excellently encapsulated everything I'd have said.
To actually laugh because another person has just been killed shows a disregard for life that, when you really think about it, is sickening. Another human being has just died. Worse still it was an untimely death, in spite of what you may think about the way this man chose to lead his life. It was an extremely unpleasant way to die. He also left a wife behind plus at least one child that I know of and possibly more. Is that really a funny thing? I don't believe so.
I wholeheartedly echo the sentiments expressed by those adding to this topic who have manage to show a degree of sensitivity. Rest in peace Steve.
Dan, he has a two year old son as well as an eight year old daughter. thanks to those guys and B.
yes, unfortunately it takes all sorts of people to make a world.
those who laugh at death ought to be extremely ashamed of themselves. Regardless of whether you liked them or not, whether they are celebs or not, it is really really *really low, and it makes those of us with normal functioning brains embarrassed to be among you.
thank you.
He knew the risks, and I heard it was a freak accident. People who do documentaries don't need to be swiming that close to a dangerous animal. I heard he's going to get a state funeral IF his family permits it. I dunno if someone should get a state funeral for being a animal lover but then again he helped his country with the zoo.
Honestly I can't give a opinion. The guy was way too wierd. Really we don't need to see some one dye on national tv.
Well, just to add my two cents, I feel for the loss of steve Erwin because he did do a lot for the environment. He also left a wife and two kids behind who will be left to grieve in the glaring spotlight of the media, who refuses to content themselves with facts that don't require incessant questioning and prying into other's personal matters. This, I feel, is the sentiment of the Zone at times as well. Furthermore, it is a life lost and gone from the face of this temporal place we call Earth. life is fragile and should be treated as such. All you who poke fun at this incident really, perhaps, have no thought nor care for what lies beyond your short-sightedness, not to mention your incurable physical and perhaps spiritual blindness. Well, but don't be surprised if you some day see the real folly of your words and wish you could take it back. Please, stop being so incredibly insensitive and let pain and the grief at the loss of a human life as precious as your own, for once, pierce your hearts and heads.
that's all that I have.
Iris
He cared deeply about animals and wanted to see a stop to the unnecessary extinction of more and more animal speecies. He was trying to make a difference in this world, and that deserves our respect whether we liked his style or not. He was not out for ratings or money, he was doing what he did because he cared about animals and the environment.
There was nothing funny about the way he died or in the fact that he died. I agree with all that the rest of you said about the people making fun of his death.
Christ you are so OTT the guy was pushing his luck you never ever swim above any ray, they will attack and that creature knew exactly where to aim for. That shows categorically, that it was possessed with a great deal more intelligence than your man.
Yes he was so kind & caring he kindly and very caringly, took his baby son into a pen with a huge croc. No doubt he would have had a film crew handy, to dramatically and very childishly describe the animal's massive jaw strentgh, as it chomped on his son. But then every famous fucker who dies is an angel?
What about your mountain climbers who have died? What the hell did they ever do for society?
Goblin asked, "But then every famous fucker who dies is an angel?"
My response is no, they're just human, like the rest of us fuckers. and, we all deserve some respect in the moment of our death for being human, if nothing else.
Just my opinion.
Bob
It makes me sick to read some of these posts, and see how rude and insenseitive some people are. Just because you don't agree with what steve did, doesn't mean that you have a right to laugh at the fact that he has passed on. How can someone find any humor in death? That's beyond me. I thought Steve was a very interesting person. I loved his show. It was very educational and enlightening. Yes, sometimes, I didn't agree with the things he did, and at times, I even thought him crazy for being so close to such dangerous animals, but my hat always went off to him for his bravery, courage, and love for the animals. I do have to agree with what some of the others have said, about other people in other dangerous professions. would you laugh at their deaths? as someone mentioned, take a racecar driver for example. I know that there's many people who are race fans, so, would you laugh at the fact that they left this world, due to an accident while on the racetrack? Or how about a sports player? If they got fatally injured on the field, would you laugh at the fact that they are no longer here? Again, just because you don't agree with the things a person does, doesn't mean that it's okay and acceptable for you to laugh and poke fun of the unfortunate things that may come their way. Steve left behind a wife and two children. My prayers go out to them, and I hope that they find the strength to get through this unfortunate event in their lives. Rest in peace, Steve.
Why you bunch of sick fucks. Its not funny that mr. Irwin died. if you think it is you have a problem.
M Biko.
oh, and another thing. Yihla moya. ndiza kukukhumbula
. spirit ascend, I will remember you.
M Biko.
oh my good fucking god. we really do have some immature little fuckwits that frequent this site. i hope you die in a similar way. i hope water chokes you up so you can't think, nor breathe. you deserve nothing more than a cursed life. my thoughts and sympathies are with steve's wife and children. they didn't deserve to lose their dad in this horrible way. i also thought his shows were great and his courage came through. r i p mate.
Honestly some of the insensativity written on this post is unbelievable. Honestly laughing at someone's death is just plane wrong. Seriously.
Anyways, although I think some of the things Steve did were downright crazy like dangling his son over the crock pen, he doesn't deserve to be laughed at, far from it. He's done a lot for the environment over here and his poor wife and kids (8 and 3) are left behind to greive.
As for how he died, apparently he was swimming above the ray, there was a cameraman on the other side of it, so the animal obviously felt threatened and the only avenue it had was toward Steve. Still that
RIP Steve, and my sympathies are with his family.
You know, as a Christian I don't believe in karma, but it is appointed once for a man to die and then judgment comes. don't tell me that on that day when you stand before God that you'll be boldly proclaiming, "Aw, that stupid Steve Erwin! I am so glad he died. In fact, I wish that he'd had a worser fate!" You know, there's also something called accountability that most still believe in today. If someone close to you passes away, please don't forget what you've said about steve erwin and I hope that you feel the pain of the loss sincerely so that your heart can perhaps shake off the glaciers that are presently there.
My prayers are with Steve's wife and children. We'll miss you, steve!

i agree with the last few posts. i definitely agree with you grace. i hope you feel grief some day like his wife and children are feeling right now.
I remember when I heard that he died. the first things that flashed through my heads were all of the shows that I've seen of him, and movies, and such things. He really was an amazing person. Did a lot for animals, and definitely tested himself to the limits.
I feel really bad for his wife and children. He did die young.
Crikey, we're gona miss that guy...*grins*
yes we are. that's why i put the little xhosa saying in my second post. Although we may have all thought he was a little nuts all and all he tryed to make us aware that wildlife isn't going to be around for much longer if we keep destroying it.
M Biko.
Blairwitch I've felt and still do feel terrible grief. However, I refuse to to be hypocritical about this guy, he was an attention seeker, its hardly surprising then that he's so popular on here.
I saw on the news yesterday, that they're going to show Steve's services on television, but I didn't catch when and what time it will be happening. Does anyone know?
I have no idea but there's gonna be a memorial service for him here at the Crockosaurium at Australia Zoo open to all.
I heard the craziest thing on the news yesterday. Some idiots are trying to kill stingrays as if that's their way at getting back at them because one of them killed Steve. Talk about senseless killing! That is the last thing in the world Steve would have wanted.
i'm not gonna even bother commenting on the immature posts, but rip steve. my prayers are with your family.
It's sad that he died, and it's sad that he left behind a family who will now have to go on without him, and that's the end of it for me. I'm no Steve Irwin fan.
